Twenty seven years ago, Optioneer Founder and Chief Engineer Andrew Evans began a personal quest to develop a trading methodology for selling options. Although Mr. Evans was a cautious person by nature, he was financially able to assume, and remain comfortable with, the inherent risks in the futures and options market. However, he grew frustrated with how the traditional approaches to trading options were sometimes profitable in the long term but delivered such unpredictable results in the short term.

As an individual trader, Mr. Evans always found himself taking two steps forward and one step back. He could place a large amount of trades one month, never making any money, and then suddenly have a bonanza month, followed by a losing month. Mr. Evans was primarily an option buyer but found that even if he correctly picked the market direction, the market often did not move enough, or quickly enough, in his favor to make money. That’s when he realized that the person who sells the options might have an inherent financial advantage. He then began his option selling research and considered modifying his strategy from that of an option buyer to an option seller.

After countless hours of research, he was able to develop formulas and algorithms for determining market probabilities based upon technical market indicators. He thoroughly tested and traded these signals on various options markets with his own money for over five years before launching Optioneer Australia in 1997 to a sophisticated group of investors in Melbourne. Due to the success of the program Optioneer began attracting new clients almost immediately.* Then in the summer of 2002, a trader from Queensland Australia, James Burgess, brought the product to the U.S. and launched Optioneer USA. Since that time the company has grown rapidly and is now established with training seminars and user groups all across North America. Optioneer, LLC is privately held and is based in Orem, Utah. Optioneer, LLC is registered with the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) as an independent Introducing Broker (IB) and is a member of the National Futures Association (NFA).

After launching Optioneer in the U.S. in 2002, Andy Evans and James Burgess formed a partnership and started StrikePoint Trading, an independent Introducing Brokerage firm. StrikePoint Trading, LLC is a full-service commodity futures and options brokerage firm created for one purpose; to service the unique needs of Optioneer members. StrikePoint Trading is the required broker for all Optioneer approved products. Optioneer is closely affiliated with StrikePoint and shares ownership interests. As a result, StrikePoint is able to offer highly customized brokerage services for Optioneer members.
